Subject area

Our Language and Linguistics programme features monographs, collected editions and academic works on  German, English and the Romance language and literature. Readers’ comprehension of language is enriched by works taking interdisciplinary approaches. The edited collection, Dynamiken der Vermittlung: Koblenzer Studien zur Germanistik, for example, examines the dynamics of language use and communication, particularly in mass media, and bridges the gap between language and culture.

Dynamiken der Vermittlung: Koblenzer Studien zur Germanistik

Edited by Prof. Dr Uta Schaffers, Prof. Dr Pamela Steen, Prof. Dr Eva L. Wyss, apl. Prof. Dr Hajo Diekmannshenke, Prof. Dr Wolf-Andreas Liebert, Prof. Dr Dr Stefan Neuhaus

The concept of the series responds to the multiplication of forms of life which, in the context of progressive differentiation, medialisation and globalisation, has led to a profound change in social conditions and places new demands on the subject of German studies.

The aim of the interdisciplinary series is to reflect on the unfolding forms and mediation processes of language and literature in their dynamic of mediation, also and especially in the mass media, from the perspectives of a German Studies oriented towards cultural studies.

The title of kommunikation & kultur itself hints at what the series encompasses: The series aims to discuss and promote debates in the theory and history of science on the most diverse aspects of the intertwining of communication and culture. It aims to open up communication studies to questions and methods of cultural studies, its history of science and knowledge.
